Celebratory Moments
Deepening the sale
Year: 2026
Category: Seller experience
Overview
Carwow’s seller flow is long and does little to celebrate progress along the way, particularly around high effort steps like uploading photos. I designed 'breather' moments, short celebratory interstitials shown before the photo step and again before service history that combined encouragement with a preview of what's coming next. The hypothesis: breaking up the journey with a moment of reward would create more emotional investment and help sellers push through the flow's two most effort-heavy steps.

Approach
I designed two moments: a 'Keep It Up!' screen shown right before the photo step and a 'Nice Work!' screen shown before service history, both reinforcing the progress made and previewing the value of what came next. I designed the typographic animation in Adobe After Effects before converting it to a WebM format to use in build.
Outcome
Rather than reducing friction, the breather sections added it: progression into the photo step dropped 11.17% and progression into service history dropped 0.96%. The effect was strongest at the photo step, where seller commitment is lowest and the ask, going out and taking photos is high effort. Even a positive interruption still read as an extra step, so this feature wasn’t rolled out. If I was to approach this again, I would conduct more user research up front to understand the effect of using a celebratory interstial and test framing and timing with users.
